How does this role look like?
Within Stellar’s R&D team, the Software Architect will:
- Analyze customers and markets’ needs and transcribe these into software architectures and technical requirements
- Analyze existing automotive platforms’ SW/HW stacks (SW, HW, interfaces, API’s, runtimes, SoC, connection of external devices…)
- Design, issue, and maintain Software Architecture & System-level specifications documents, ICDs and system plans covering all software solutions developed by Stellar internally or with partners (with specific focus on connectivity and networking)
- Lead the software development team to define internal and external software interfaces that perform the desired functionality, while ensuring optimal efficiency and robustness and ensuring a high-quality work environment for the colleagues
- Define the subsystems and system end-to-end validation test procedures
- Contribute to defining internal processes and implementation of the required tools to meet the specific requirements and expectations of our customers and markets (notably for automotive)
- Contribute to the process of identification, qualifications and selection of new solutions and partners
- Ensure that Stellar’s innovative software solutions and architecture are meeting the performance, quality, security, reliability, certification, and homologation standards of all target verticals, with focus on automotive and the overall land mobility sectors
- Provide technical support to business development, sales, and sales engineering team in building proposal to new and existing customers
- Closely collaborate with other Stellarians to ensure the proper integration of developed software modules within the present and future end-to-end system and subsystems
- Interface with partner companies (hardware, cloud suppliers, etc.)
- Maintain high-level awareness of technology trends and competitive offerings/developments with focus on software and connectivity for automotive and mobility sectors
- Maintain high-level of awareness of complementary 3rd party technologies and solutions
- Continuously analyze and suggest possible paths to optimize, enhance and augment the proposed solutions/architectures
- Mentor other R&D team members
- Report to the CTO
What makes you a great candidate?
- 10+ years of experience in software development for networking or other mission critical applications with at least 5 years in architect role (preferably in automotive and/or telecoms)
- Expertise in state-of-the-art software architectures: e.g., multi-tiered, event-driven, SOA, Micro- services, Cloud, Virtualization, Kubernetes…
- Technical knowledge of automotive SW stacks (e.g. RTOS, AUTOSAR, Linux, Android, Graphics Engine, connection of external devices via USB, Bluetooth, etc.).
- Experience in software development (embedded and/or full stack) with languages like C, C++, Java, and/or Python
- Experience in setting-up Agile development environment including DevOps
- Experience in one or several of the following domains: telecoms, cybersecurity, automotive, or othermission critical applications
- Excellent analysis skills and evaluation of trade-offs
- Ability to learn quickly, evaluate ideas, and propose technical solutions
- Capability to analyze and document customer requirements
- Capability to align technical features with business requirements
- Ability to foresee and navigate around the risks behind new/innovative solutions development and make timely recommendations to the CTO
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Literacy and proficiency in English. Skills in any other language is welcomed
- “Will do” attitude – willing to dive into and take ownership of critical design, implementation and software development issues. What’s a “will do” attitude? It’s like “can do”, but 10x more
- Capability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external stakeholders

Notes:
The preferred location for the position is in Bordeaux (France) or its surrounding areas. However, other locations are open for consideration. The role involves traveling, primarily within Europe, for approximately 20% of the time.
